French Island is renowned for its large population of disease free koalas. French Island also abounds in
many other species of wildlife, such as echidnas, lizards and snakes (these
usually stay out your way), frogs, potoroos and other small marsupials.
As you travel along the roads you often see magnificent birds of prey
swooping and hovering over the landscape. Along the coast wading birds can
be seen as they search the shore for snacks. Throughout the bushland areas
birds large and small, colourful and melodious can be seen flitting from
tree to tree.
